Inversion Ensemble premiering "Let Everything Happen"
Austin's own Inversion Ensemble is scheduled to premiere my setting of Rainer Maria Rilke's beautiful "Let Everything Happen," a text from his famous work The Book of Hours, September 30 and October 1, 2017. Special thanks to Inversion Ensemble's director, Trevor Shaw, and facilitator Robbie La Banca for programming this work. See information on times and locations in the graphic below.
"Let Everything Happen" is a setting of a text by Rainer Maria Rilke for four part women's voices, harp, and cello. It strives to shed light upon those times in our lives when we find that whatever it is we are facing - be it good, evil, or something in between - is an existential challenge. Even the profoundly beautiful can be, as one Greek notion suggests, terrifying. It is my hope that this work will speak encouragement to any soul struggling to persevere regardless of what may happen, and inspire us to reach out to one another for strength and community.
